Whatever your “me” time is - Yoga, journaling, meditation, sketch, a walk in nature…
Take a moment to enquire…deepen your understanding of why you choose to do what you do?
When I sit down to meditate, move on my mat, or when guiding a class, …I ask the questions, delving beyond the surface, beyond the tight shoulder or niggly knee (these are important to acknowledge of course) but to find that flavour of what is truly needed…
Why have I chosen to be here?
Why have I chosen to not just wake up and roll onto my mat, but fully show up right now?
How does my practice support me and different areas of my life?
Why is the support it provides so important to me?
What do I need right now?
This reflection acknowledges our humanness, nurtures self-acceptance and a commitment to stay curious and fresh spirited with it all.
If you have read“Big Magic” by Elizabeth Gilbert, (if you haven’t I highly recommend), the incredible visual of an idea that sweeps through you so fast that if you don’t catch its tail and act upon it right then and there - write it down, do it, say it, sing it - it’ll leave you as fast as it swooped into your consciousness. The idea will find another willing individual who might just do something with it.
As I practiced this morning my mind swirled with what the weekend held ahead of me. I start the first Stress & Anxiety Programme of the year in Whitstable this Sunday and I always take stock of where I am before I start these courses, I revisit my “why” for wanting to run them. And I wonder, what are the “why’s” of those joining me this weekend?
Words swam through me at such a pace, but I grabbed its tail and jotted it down, breathed into and noticed the way these reflections - both the act of asking and the answers themselves - felt in my body. …
What do I need to nourish and shine my attention on today?
Beyond this section of time I’ve carved out on my mat today, what can I do right now to support my real life?
How can I support my resource to fully show up as myself and in service this weekend?
Feel my feet upon the earth
Feel the breath in the space of my body
Feel the space around me and within me
Hold this attention. Hold this space.
I am here. I hold this space so I can explore, be curious, notice, trust and accept what I hear…be tender. Everything I need is here. Trust that.
I stay grounded as I connect with others. Centred, I can listen deeply. Receive and give kindness unboundedly. Patience and space, this is the way today.
