Breath is what connects us. We share the air we breathe. We share its seasons…. the spring and the summer of the in breath. The Autumn to Winter of the turning out breath.
It is the bridge that connects our external experience, to our deeper internal. It is our anchor that can be with us anywhere and anytime.
Working therapeutically, breath is where we begin. It can show where energy is stuck, where pain and protection is held. It also brings one of our most powerful and empowering tools to soothe, to feel safe, to access a space of clarity and insight…
I invite you today to find a quiet spot to lie down or sit so you can be comfortable for the next 2 minutes. Notice the quality of your breath…is it smooth, jumpy, shallow, deep…there is no right or wrong answer to this. It’s simply noticing. On every inhale silently recite “in in in” and on the exhale “out out out”
Let the internal sound and rhythm of this fill your mind.
After about 2 minutes let go of any focus of your silent repetition. Then before moving back into your day, check in with your breath once more. Notice without judgement, the quality of your breath free flowing in your body. Notice how it moves your body. What rises, what fall, what expands, what releases. Experience this aliveness…your aliveness fully.
